Did you know,that Nougat from Montélimar is one of the thirteen desserts at the end of a typical christmas dinner in Provence ?
Nougat first appears in Montélimar at the end of the seventeenth century. At that time it is a nut cake, called "nux gatum" or "nougo". Later the recipes mention almonds instead of nuts. Almond trees had been introduced earlier by the famous agronomist Olivier de Serres.
The "Chaudron d'Or" is one of the last places were nougat is still prepared in a
copper cauldron following the traditional recipe.

From Monday to Friday from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.,on Sundays for groups on appointment only.
The guided tour is FREE.
Tasting is possible all the day long without any special appointment. In the
morning you can watch the nougat-making.
